Functioning of I & B Ministry Media units in Maharashtra to be reviewed

Implementation and progress in Maharashtra of various new urban development and affordable housing missions launched over the last three years will be reviewed at a high level meeting in Mumbai tomorrow.
Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information & Broadcasting Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu and Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis will jointly review the progress and discuss implementation issues. Concerned Ministers of Maharashtra, senior officials of central and state governments including National and State level mission directors of various urban missions will attend the review meeting.
Review will also cover the programmes relating to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and functioning of various media units like Doordarshan, All India Radio and other organistations/agencies of the ministry.
Government of India after extensive consultations with State Governments launched new urban missions like Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Smart City Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) besides extending National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) to all the cities and towns in the country in the name of Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana-NULM.
style="font-size: 12pt;"> Ahead of tomorrow’s review, Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu today tweeted that “I am happy to jointly review progress of urban sector schemes in Maharashtra jointly with Chief Minister Shri Fadnavis. Maharashtra is important for the urban transformation in the country set in motion by the Modi Government during the last three years. I am confident the review will benefit both the central and state governments.”
AMRUT aims at improving basic urban infrastructure in 500 mission cities and towns with an investment of Rs.1.00 lakh cr. This mission seeks to provide water taps to all urban households besides improving water supply to the normative level of 135 litres per head per day in urban areas as top priority besides substantial expansion in sewerage and drainage networks, non-motorised transport and open and green spaces.
Smart City Mission is aimed at addressing core infrastructure deficit in areas identified by citizens in 100 mission cities besides improving urban governance, service delivery and public information delivery through technology based Pan-city solutions.
Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) seeks to ensure Open Defecation Free cities and towns besides ensuring 100% door-to-door collection, transportation and processing of municipal solid waste by October,2019 to improve hygiene in urban areas of the country.
Under PMAY(Urban), urban poor, Low and Middle Income Groups would be enabled to build or acquire own houses by 2022, marking the 75years of Independence of the country.
Under DAY-NULM, urban poor are imparted with skills to enhance wage employment opportunities besides encouraging entrepreneurship for self-employment by extending bank loans at subsidized interest rates.
During the last three years, Pune and Nagpur were sanctioned metro projects and progress of these projects will also be reviewed.
